1. Time is of the essence
Box manufacturers become increasingly busy as the festive season approaches, as the demand for custom made boxes for Christmas events and product promotions grows. To avoid disappointment, it is essential to begin organising your Christmas packaging solutions as early as possible. Consideration should be given to the fact that the usual box manufacturer lead times will increase as production schedules become booked up as Christmas approaches. As well as allowing time for various quotations for different box specifications, time should also be allocated for box and paper sampling particularly if a box sample is to be manufactured to order. Make sure you don’t leave it until the last minute!
2. Size is important
Although it may seem obvious to work out what size box is required before approaching a supplier for a quotation, some people fail to provide this essential information. If a little time is spent initially measuring the contents of the box in order to provide the correct details, a box supplier will be much better placed to provide you with accurate prices first time around, avoiding multiple quotations for different box styles based on incorrect dimensions. The size of the box has a large influence on the overall unit price per box. It is worth bearing in mind that the height of the box is the principal measurement which impacts on the price the most. The deeper the box, the more expensive it will be.
The box size is based on the internal dimensions of the base (Length x Width x Height). If you are concerned that the dimensions you have chosen for your box are incorrect, when an order is placed, most box manufacturers are happy for you to send the box contents so they can ensure everything fits in effectively.
3. Style on a budget
When it comes to bespoke rigid presentation boxes, there are plenty of box styles to choose from; box with lift-off lid, shoulder box, clamshell box, box with hinged flap lid and magnetic closure and box with a 3-sided hinged lid to name but a few. It is important to decide how much you want to spend on bespoke gift boxes as prices can vary considerably according to the chosen box style. If you are looking to keep the price down, a rigid gift box with a lift-off lid is the most cost effective box style, whereas a gift box with hinged flap lid and magnetic closure is at the higher end of the pricing scale. Extras including satin lining, coloured lining paper and card or foam inserts will all increase the price per box as will having artwork printed on the box.
